Introducing Story

In 2016, I was sent to London for six months to fulfill a role as a Supply Chain Analyst for a client. Immersing myself in the role’s day-to-day operations, meetings, and problem-solving, I began to realize the immense potential of analytics in shaping decisions and solving complex challenges. This experience planted the seed for upskilling myself in analytics.

After a successful assignment, I returned to India in 2017 with high regard for the work I had done. I resumed my responsibilities remotely but felt the urge to enhance my skillset to better align with the evolving demands of my role. That’s when I began researching courses in analytics.

A Journey of Research and Discovery

The months after my return were spent diving into market research, exploring various programs and certifications that could complement my professional goals. I evaluated options based on curriculum, reputation, and industry relevance.

Eventually, I discovered the Business Analytics course at NMIMS, renowned for its elite faculty and cutting-edge approach. To my delight, the campus was only a five-minute walk from my home, and the weekend schedule made it a perfect fit for my work-life balance.

With great anticipation, I tracked the start date of the next batch, paid my fees, and proudly became Roll Number 1 of the new cohort. Finally, in 2018, my journey at NMIMS began with the Certification in Business Analytics, a nine-month program that concluded in January 2019.

Day One: A World of Possibilities

The opening day at NMIMS was unforgettable. Our institute director shared how analytics was revolutionizing the world, using examples like cameras at traffic signals. These systems not only improved traffic management but also prevented accidents, reduced crimes, and automatically issued challans for violations. It was fascinating to see how data-driven solutions were transforming everyday life.

What stood out about NMIMS was the meticulous attention to detail. From distraction-free classrooms to the inclusion of meals in the schedule, every aspect was designed to help us focus on learning. It felt like stepping into a world where possibilities were endless.

From Basics to Mastery

We started with prerequisites: Excel fundamentals, Tableau, R programming, and Python, ensuring everyone was equipped for the main coursework. These sessions were a wonderful kickoff, laying a solid foundation for the semester ahead.

One subject that left a lasting impression on me was Statistics. While I was familiar with its basics, NMIMS introduced me to a whole new perspective:

Descriptive Analytics: Understanding the past.

Predictive Analytics: Forecasting the future.

Prescriptive Analytics: Guiding actions based on predictions.

Numbers began to speak to me in ways I had never imagined. Exploring data through exploratory data analysis was like uncovering hidden stories waiting to be told. Each dataset was a puzzle, revealing patterns and pathways that sparked my curiosity and creativity.

A Lifelong Connection

My experience at NMIMS went beyond technical skills. The vibrant campus, supportive faculty, and camaraderie with peers created an environment of inspiration and growth.

In 2021, I returned to NMIMS to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM). It felt like coming home. The same classrooms, the same energy—it was like reliving my college days, but with a deeper sense of purpose and joy.

The relationships I built with scholars and peers across industries enriched my understanding of how analytics is applied in diverse ways to solve business challenges. Every class, project, and discussion brought me closer to the professional—and person—I aspire to be.

The Legacy of NMIMS

NMIMS gave me more than a qualification. It gave me a love for lifelong learning, an appreciation for the power of data, and the confidence to make a difference. My journey—from London to India, and from supply chain roles to analytics—has been deeply shaped by this institution.

Looking back, I realize that analytics is not just a skill. It’s a way of thinking, a passion that drives me, and a language I now speak fluently. This journey has been as transformative personally as it has been professionally.
