Who are the biggest influences in your life?
Every decision I make carries the echo of my father’s voice—a quiet yet resolute presence that has shaped who I am today. In the South Indian household where I grew up, life was guided by values of discipline, responsibility, and a deep respect for family. My father embodied these principles, and his influence has left an indelible mark on my journey.
As a child, even small choices felt significant. I remember standing in a hill station shop for hours, deliberating over a lamp to bring home. Will he like it? Will it meet his standards? It wasn’t just about the lamp—it was about earning his approval, a silent yet powerful motivation that guided so many of my actions.
When wedding matches were discussed, he was unwavering: “Don’t rush. I’ll ensure you find the right one. Trust me.” His presence was both a shield and a compass, offering security while setting high expectations.
But it wasn’t always easy. His reluctance to openly praise often left me wondering if I had done enough. Yet, hearing from his colleagues how proudly he spoke of me made me realize that his pride was not in words but in actions.
One defining moment during high school still rings in my ears. He asked me to step out late at night for an errand, and I hesitated, clinging to my comfort zone. His words were sharp but transformative: “If you can’t step out at 10 PM, how will you go out into the world and chase your dreams?” That question sparked a resilience I carry to this day.
My father’s influence isn’t just a thread in my personal life—it’s woven into my professional journey. His lessons on accountability and independence shape my approach to challenges. His emphasis on self-reliance taught me to embrace change with confidence, and his high expectations pushed me to aim higher in everything I do.
In a world where vulnerability often feels risky, sharing this story isn’t about exposure—it’s about celebrating the roots of my resilience. My father’s words and actions are the foundation of the person I am and the brand I am building today.
