Write about your first computer.
(The year is 2000. The long-awaited day has arrived. An assembled computer sits proudly on the desk, its components waking up for the first time. It’s their first date together—the beginning of an exciting journey in the world of technology.)
💾 Hard Drive (HDD) [the slow but steady one]:
“Finally, I exist! I am the heart of this system, ready to store everything—documents, music, even movies! Wait… what? Only 20GB of space? That’s all I get? This is outrageous!”
🎮 Graphics Card [the show-off]:
“Relax, old chap! At least you’re useful. I’m the real star here. Games, videos, and graphics—everything depends on me. Just wait till she installs Road Rash and Need for Speed!”
🧠 RAM [the hyperactive but forgetful one]:
“Hey, guys! I’m here to keep things running fast and smooth. Well… for a few seconds, at least. I forget things quickly, but that’s okay, right?”
🔌 Power Supply (PSU) [the grumpy elder]:
“Quiet down, you amateurs! None of you would even exist without me. You think you can run on magic? No power, no party!”
🖥️ CRT Monitor (the diva):
“Excuse me, I am the star of the show. Without me, no one sees anything! Look at my curves—20 inches of pure white elegance. And let’s not forget, I take up half the desk. True royalty demands space!”
⌨️ Keyboard (the chatterbox):
“I can’t wait to get started! Click-clack, click-clack—I’ll be typing away all day! Hope she’s a fast learner, though. Imagine hunting for the ‘@’ symbol every time!”
🖱️ Mouse (the control freak):
“Let’s get one thing straight—I control everything. No clicks, no movement. I am the commander of this operation!”
📀 CD-ROM Drive (the romantic one):
“Oh, how wonderful this is! Soon, she’ll insert a music CD, and we’ll all enjoy the melodies of the 2000s. Maybe even a movie night? Ah, what a time to be alive!”
☎️ Dial-Up Internet Modem (the struggler):
(Screeching sounds) “Hold on… I’m connecting… almost there… wait… NO! Someone picked up the phone! Connection lost again. Why does this always happen to me?!”
(The Moment of Truth…)
Neelima presses the power button, and the system roars to life. The components, despite their quirks, come together for the first time.
The Monitor flashes, the Keyboard clicks, the CD-ROM hums, and the Internet tries its best.
What follows is a world of MS Office, Minesweeper, floppy disks, and dial-up browsing. Slow? Yes. But magical? Absolutely.
The journey of a lifetime has begun.
Final Reflection
That first computer wasn’t just a machine—it was my gateway to technology. It sparked my curiosity, inspired my learning, and set me on a path that continues today. Even with all the modern advancements, nothing replaces the nostalgia of that first startup sound, the dial-up melody, and the thrill of exploring a world that was just a few clicks away.
