Unwinding is not a routine. It’s a response.

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

As of April 21, 2026, my way of unwinding is sudoku.
Just five days ago, I would have said adult coloring books.

That shift made me pause.

Not because one is better than the other —
but because it made me realize something simple:

I don’t have one fixed way to unwind.

On some days, my mind is overloaded — I look for something quiet.
On other days, I need just enough engagement to stop overthinking — something like sudoku works perfectly.
And sometimes, unwinding is not even an activity — it’s just sitting still and letting the day settle.

What changes is the activity.
What stays constant is the need.

And that’s where the insight is.

Unwinding, for me, is not a habit I follow.
It’s a response to what the day has taken out of me.

The more I pay attention, the easier it becomes to choose what I actually need — not just what I usually do.

Maybe that’s what self-awareness looks like in small ways.

Not big decisions.
Just noticing — what do I need today?
